Conversely, fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral that protects teeth from tooth decay by strengthening the enamel. Both treatments are simple, affordable, and painless. Plus, dental sealants and fluoride treatment are an excellent financial investment because it’s much easier and more cost-effective to prevent a cavity than treat it with dental fillings, crowns, or tooth extractions.

Generally, we recommend dental sealants and fluoride treatment to young patients prone to tooth decay—ideally, after a dental cleaning. Both treatments are straightforward and highly beneficial. Here’s what you can expect from us:
- Dental Sealants: Our dental team paints a clear or tooth-colored treatment to the surface of the molars (permanent back teeth), where 9 in 10 cavities occur. Although dental sealants are not permanent, they can shield against 80% of cavities for two years and continue to shield against 50% for up to four years.
- Fluoride Treatment: During this treatment, one of our dentists or dental hygienists will topically apply a highly concentrated fluoride solution to slow down the development of cavities by helping the body better use teeth-strengthening minerals (like calcium and phosphate).
